1. ORGANIZATION

2. TRAIL 70KM TRAIL

The "DoubleW TRAIL 70 KM" foot race is a cross-border Ultra Trail that winds along the alpine paths of Valtellina (I) and Valposchiavo (CH). Departure from Lovero (SO) and arrival in Villa di Tirano (SO) on JUNE 22, 2024. Route in a natural environment of about 70 km with a positive difference in height of about 5100 m. The race is intended to be semi-self-sufficient and is regulated by time gates and time limits.

3. PARTICIPATION IN TRAIL 70KM

The participating athlete must be fully aware of the environmental context in which the competition takes place and of the technical difficulties of the race track.

It is necessary to have appropriate mountain experience, to be well trained, to use appropriate equipment and clothing and to have recently participated in similar competitions.

  • The event is affiliated with the sports promotion body Csen (for the ITA territory).

  • The Organization has the right not to accept the registration of competitors deemed unsuitable.

4. COMPETITION VALID FOR UTMB INDEX ITRA SCORE

DoubleW ULTRA is officially ITRA MEMBER and UTMB INDEX.

5. SEEDS SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Semi-self-sufficiency is defined as the ability to be autonomous between two refreshment points, referring to safety, nutrition and equipment, thus allowing you to adapt to the problems encountered, foreseeable or unpredictable.

6. TRAIL 70KM REGISTRATION

Athletes who have reached the age of 18 can register.

FOR THE ITALIAN TERRITORY 

MEMBERSHIP

  • The athlete must be in good standing with the Csen, Fisky, FIDAL, Fidal Runcard, Fidal Mountain & Trail Runcard membership for the year 2024.

  • Or he must be in good standing with his membership in his foreign athletics federation for the year 2024. Declaration athlete licensed for a foreign federation 

  • Anyone without a membership card will be able to subscribe to the Csen card at the additional cost of 10 euros.

CERTIFICATE OF FITNESS FOR COMPETITIVE SPORTS PRACTICE FOR LIGHT ATHLETICS

  • All competitors resident in Italy (even if foreign) must be in possession of a fitness visit to practice sport for athletics valid on the day of the competition in accordance with current Italian legislation.

The certificate must have been issued in Italy.

  • All competitors NOT resident in Italy but of Italian nationality, must be in possession of a fitness visit to practice sport for athletics valid on the day of the competition in accordance with current Italian legislation.

 FOR THE SWISS TERRITORY 

  • It is strongly recommended that every athlete be covered by an individual accident insurance that covers any costs of emergency and hospital services for Switzerland. The Swiss rescue services are run by private companies such as REGA etc. and the intervention costs are entirely borne by the athlete if their insurance does not cover the services provided.

7. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

9. REGISTRATION METHOD

Registration takes place online via the registration link by SUNDAY JUNE 16, 2024 AT 11.59 PM. Registration opens 01/12/2023 at 12:00.

Payment can be made by credit card, paypal, satispay, sofort, bank transfer. Entries without payment are not accepted.

In the case of bank transfer, it is necessary to send the registration form with a copy of the payment + release and any sports medical certificate to the email address: doppiaw@evodata.it

The cost of registration includes all the services described in this regulation + VAT but not the treatment fees. (Credit card commission etc. to be paid by the participant).

10. TIMING

It will be carried out by Evodata with technology based on the use of "disposable chips" applied to the bib.

NB: Failure or incorrect use of the chip will result in non-inclusion in the ranking and non-attribution of the time taken.

11. WAIVER AND CANCELLATION

WAIVER

  • Cancellation request by April 14, 2024 to info@doppiaw.com entitles you to a refund of 50% of the fee.

  • After this date, no reimbursement will be provided except for injury or illness upon presentation of a medical certificate.

  • The transfer of the bib is allowed by 2 June 2024, upon request to info@doppiaw.com and the payment of 10 euros for administrative costs.

  • There is no postponement of the registration fee to the following year.

The race packages will not be sent and can only be collected at the time established as scheduled by showing an identity document.

ANNULMENT

In case of interruption or cancellation of the race for reasons of force majeure, atmospheric, and / or unforeseeable circumstances, or in any case for any other reason dependent or independent of the Organization, no reimbursement will be due to the participants.

12. BIB WITHDRAWAL

Bib collection is scheduled:
Villa di Tirano: Friday 21 June from 10:00 to 20:30
Lovero: Saturday 22 June from 03.50 to 04.50

When collecting the bib, each competitor is required to present:

  • a photo ID

If not already sent at the time of registration:

  • Copy of the medical certificate

  • Membership (as required in point 6) or sign the Csen card on site.

  • DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY DECLARATION (or provided by the race office organization)

  • It is compulsory to show the staff all the compulsory control material before collecting the bib.

13. BIBS

Each competitor will be given two numbered bibs to bring:

The secondary breastplate is worn on the back or backpack.

  • The main one in the ventral area or on the right thigh in a visible and readable manner.

  • The secondary (small) breastplate is worn on the back or backpack.

The bib number cannot be changed and must be worn for the duration of the race.

The bib number is a passport required for the duration of the race.

14. TRACK GPS

Each competitor of the TRAIL 70KM will receive before the start in Lovero a GPS which must be worn or carried in the rucksack. Il GPS va tenuto acceso per tutta la durata della gara (pena squalifica).

At the end of the race the GPS must be returned to the control staff in the finish area.

If the GPS is not returned, the competitor will be charged a penalty of 150 euros.

15. RACE PACKAGES AND TECHNICAL GADGET

Race packs and technical gadgets will not be sent and can only be collected at the scheduled time.

16. PERSONAL BAGS TRANSPORT

  • Each TRAIL 70KM competitor will receive a band with the bib number which must be attached to the personal bag that will be transported by the Organization to the finish area of the race, in Villa di Tirano.

  • The bag must be deposited at the start in Lovero in the collection area marked "Villa di Tirano" by 04:30 on Saturday June 22nd .

  • Each TRAIL 70KM competitor will receive a bag and a band with the bib number where he can put the spare material, which will be transported by the Organization at half way, km 36.   • The sack of the runners who have used the change of clothes will be transported to the finish area in Villa di Tirano where it can be collected on presentation of the bib number.

Unmarked bags or sacks with items attached externally will not be transported or accepted. Si raccomanda di non mettere nel sacco oggetti fragili o di valore.

The organisation is not responsible for any theft, loss or damage to the bags or their contents.

Bags and sacks can only be collected on presentation of the race number and will not be delivered to the competitor's home in any way if they are not collected in the manner listed.

 

17. MANDATORY MATERIAL

  • The runner must wear a minimum of suitable clothing including at least a technical T-shirt, trousers or ¾ tights or shorts with long socks and reflecting the prevailing weather conditions at the time of the race.

  • Competition bibs clearly visible throughout the duration of the race.

  • Trail-running shoe (category A5).

In addition, each runner must have the following equipment with them, worn or stored in their rucksack, for the duration of the race

They are also suitable for drinking between refreshment points.

  • Identity card/European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

  • Mobile phone with charged battery (Enter the organisation's emergency numbers, keep it switched on at all times, do not mask the number, the phone must also be switched on at all times in Swiss territory for any communications between the organisation and the competitor).

  • GPS track provided by the organisation to be returned at the end of the race.

  • Backpack with sufficient capacity to hold all the material.

  • Camelbak or water bottle with a minimum capacity of 1.0 litres

  • Sufficient water and food reserve to be self-sufficient between two refreshment points.

  • Adequate socks.

  • Hat, cap or bandana.

  • Gloves.

  • Survival blanket, min. 1.40 m x 2.0 m.

  • Elastic adhesive bandage suitable for bandaging or strapping, min. 100 cm x 6 cm.

  • Frontal lamp

  • Whistle

  • 20 Euro for contingencies.

Recommended:

  • Spare clothing.

  • Sunglasses.

  • Waterproof trousers

  • Poles may be used

  • The use of poles is permitted.

18. MATERIAL CONTROL

  • Material check at the bib distribution for all competitors.

  • Sample material check before the start and at the end of the race in the finish area.

  • Surprise checks along the route of all compulsory material.

19. COMPORTAMENTO DEL CORRIDORE

  • The participant must follow the regularly marked route and pass all checkpoints.

  • Competitors may not leave the race course on their own initiative. Possono altresì essere costretti a ritirarsi dal direttore di gara o da uno dei membri del personale medico presente.

  • The abandonment of the race (on their own initiative or forced) must take place at a control post, except for extreme reasons, by notifying the race controllers. L’atleta è pregato di seguire le indicazioni del personale di controllo per il rientro alla zona di partenza o arrivo.

  • In the event of an accident the athletes are obliged to render assistance to their colleagues in difficulty, respectively they must alert the control post nearest to the place of the accident. La giuria terrà conto del tempo trascorso per questa assistenza.

  • The race director or marshals may oblige competitors, at any point on the course, to wear their windbreakers, headgear, or any other obligatory clothing or material.
  • Athletes are asked to behave in an environmentally friendly manner and to dispose of their rubbish in the containers at the refreshment areas (+/- 100 m). I concorrenti che verranno segnalati per cattiva condotta e comportamento ambientale non prudente saranno squalificati.

20. PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATIONS

PENALTY FROM THREE MINUTES TO DISQUALIFICATION

  • Leaving personal material along the way.

  • Cutting or abandonment of the route set out by the organizers.

  • Missing or inadequate equipment and non-use of the same if required.

DISQUALIFICATIONS

  • Bib not visible or manipulated

  • Refusal to comply with an order from the race director, a race commissioner, a doctor or rescuer.

  • Benefit from external help outside the pre-established areas. (Refreshments +/- 100 m)

  • No transit through a checkpoint.

  • Abandonment of waste by the athlete outside the refreshment areas (+/- 100 m).

  • Unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • Failure to rescue.

  • Fake identity. Bib sharing and / or exchange.

  • Refusal to submit to doping control or positive response to doping control.

  • Don't attend the awards ceremony without just cause.

  • Exceeding the maximum time limit. (Time barriers)

21. APPEALS

They must be done in writing, marked with the complainant's name and bib number, on the finish line or immediately after the publication of the provisional results. A deposit of € 20 will be required which will be refunded if the complaint is accepted. Complaints cannot be made after one hour from the publication of the interim results.

22. JURY

The jury is made up of:

  • Race director

  • Route or safety director

  • President of the Organizing Committee

23. ROUTE

The route of the DoubleW TRAIL 70KM is visible on the routes page. The race itinerary follows easy mule tracks and single tracks, but also some short passages on the ridge, sometimes exposed but equipped with fixed ropes and assisted by the organization's staff. You have to cross 3 steps on the Italian-Swiss border.

The presence of snow sections above 2000 m s. L. m. is not to be excluded.

  • In case of bad weather or impracticability of the trails, there is an emergency route that will be presented at the pre-race briefing.

  • Competitors must strictly respect the marked race course, avoiding taking shortcuts or cutting sections of the track. The removal from the official route, in addition to leading to disqualification from the order of arrival, will take place at the sole risk and peril of the competitor.

In case of bad weather conditions and / or for safety reasons, the Organization reserves the right to suspend the test in progress or to change the time barriers.

 

26. RESTAURANTS

  • There will be 12 official refreshment points

  • Only competitors have access to the refreshment point (bib clearly visible).

  • It is forbidden to drink directly from the bottles of the refreshment points. No glasses will be available.

  • Each athlete must have the quantity of water and food necessary to get to the next refreshment point when exiting each refueling point.

  • At the Malghera and Schiazzera refreshment points you can have a hot food (pasta or soup)

27. RACE ASSISTANCE

  • Assistance during the race by accompanying persons is only granted at the 9 official refreshment points. (approx. +/- 100 m) The accompanying persons must not in any way obstruct the passage of other athletes and the normal course of the race.

  • Accompaniment in the race is prohibited. It is forbidden to benefit from external aid outside the pre-established areas (12 refreshment points). Penalty disqualification!

28. SIGNS AND PATH DEMARCATION

  • The refreshment area will be delimited with tape and signposted about 100 m before and about 100 m after the refueling point.

  • The route will be marked with directional arrows, flags and ribbon.

  • From the Schiazzera  refreshment point (52 km), in addition to flags, directional arrows and tape, there will also be reflective tapes.

All demarcations will be removed immediately after the passage of the last competitor and in the hours immediately following the end of the race.

29. SAFETY / CHECKS AND HEALTH

SECURITY

  • An emergency call station is established at the most significant points identified by the organization and in any case at the refreshment points.

  • The rescue posts are intended to bring assistance to all people in danger.

  • Rescuers are authorized to evacuate runners judged to be in danger by any means of their convenience.

  • In case of need, for reasons that are in the interest of the rescued person, in the opinion of the organization and acquired for this purpose the opinion of the health personnel, the official rescue will be called upon, who will take over the direction of the operations and will deploy all appropriate means, including the helicopter. Any costs arising from the use of these exceptional means will be borne by the rescued person.

  • Health staff and a doctor will be present in the finish area.

CONTROLS

The control points of the athletes' passages are in correspondence with the official refueling areas. The organization reserves the right to carry out additional checks along the route.

HEALTH

  • Official rescue personnel are authorized to stop competitors deemed unsuitable to continue the race and collect their bibs.

  • A runner who appeals to a doctor or medical staff submits himself to their authority and undertakes to respect their decisions.

  • The runner who is obliged to stop for medical reasons and who does not comply with the decision taken by the doctors is no longer under the responsibility of the organization and loses all rights to the services it provides.

  • The organizer requires the competitor to respect the rules of integrity and sporting ethics. The competitor refrains from all doping practices.

  • State the list of prohibited substances and methods (substances and methods prohibited in competitions http://www.wada-ama.org/en/ ) of the WADA in force on the date of the tender. The Organizer reserves the right to carry out anti-doping checks.

  • Participants declare their willingness to submit to such checks if necessary.

30. ABANDONING THE RACE AND RETURNING

  • In case of abandonment of the race along the route, the competitor is obliged to go to the nearest control point and communicate his abandonment by being registered. Anyone who abandons the race without communicating it immediately, causing the rescue personnel to start a search, will have to bear all the consequent costs.

  • The organization takes care of the runner's return to Villa di Tirano from 4 control points.

  • It is possible that, for logistical reasons, the withdrawn competitors may have to wait some time before being brought back to the finish area

32.TRANSPORT

The organization guarantees the transport of athletes from Villa di Tirano (arrival location) to Lovero (departure location) only and exclusively at the times indicated in the following table and only for the start of the race. You will need to enter your preference when registering.

Transportation at the end of the race from Villa di Tirano to Lovero will not be guaranteed.

33.PASTA PARTY

ASD DoppioW organizes the pasta party at the Villa di Tirano village on Friday evening at 6.00 pm. The pasta party is not included in the registration fee and the preference must be indicated during registration.

34. ACCOMMODATION

It will be possible to stay for free (Thursday 20 June, Friday 21 June and Saturday 22 June) in the structure of the Multifunctional Center of Villa di Tirano. More info at bib collection. To be reserved during registration.
Each athlete must have everything necessary for sleeping (cot / mat / sleeping bag, etc.).

35. ACCIDENT INSURANCE

The participant must be privately insured against illness, accident and other damage. The insurance must also cover any emergency and hospital costs in Italy and Switzerland.

The Swiss rescue services are managed by private companies such as REGA and the costs of the intervention are entirely borne by the athlete if their insurance does not cover the services provided.

The cost of assistance in the event of an accident is not borne by the organization.

In case of emergency, for reasons that are always in the interest of the rescued person, the official rescue will intervene, who will then take over the operational management and organize all appropriate means, including rescue by helicopter. The costs deriving from the use of these exceptional means will be borne by the rescued person, who will also have to bear the costs of his return from the rescue site. It is up to the participant to prepare a dossier within the set deadline and send it to his private insurer.

If the organization has had to pay the rescue costs directly, these will be reimbursed to the organization by the participant or by his insurance company.

Contact your health / accident or health insurance to find out if your current coverage is sufficient or if you need accident insurance, covering first aid, as well as hospital costs, limited to the day of the race.

36. PRIVACY AND IMAGE RIGHTS

By registering, participants accept the publication of their name, surname, year of birth, place of residence, nationality, bib number, team, race time and placement in the starting lists and rankings of the event. This consent is valid for publication on the internet, in print, on TV or social channels, in the announcements of the speakers and for the posting of start lists or rankings during the event.

By registering, competitors renounce any image and speech rights granted to radio, television, publishing and advertising companies in general.

They also authorize the organization to use free, without territorial and time limits, still and moving images that portray them during the participation in the Double W Ultra.

It will not be possible to select photographs or videos to obscure the faces of people who do not want to appear on them.

Participation in the race does not guarantee participants the right to use the race and / or its name for advertising or commercial purposes or to transfer these rights to third parties. Any communication outside the private circle relating to the event or using its images is not allowed without the express written authorization of the organization, which establishes the conditions.

37. LIABILITY

The athlete, aware of the responsibility for false declarations, acknowledges and confirms that he has directly viewed the race course and that, in full capacity, considered fully suitable for his technical level; well aware that the aforementioned route has sections with fixed ropes and exposed passages, albeit assisted by the organization's staff.

DECLARES:

to be in possession of a skyrunning curriculum suitable for the competition you are enrolling in, having also in the recent past taken part in similar events and still boasting mountain experience suitable for tackling the aforementioned route. -

  • to have been duly informed by the organizers of the potential danger of the event that takes place in a mountain environment with the consequent unavoidable objective dangers for all competitors and to intend, in the face of this awareness, to assume the risk equally.

  • to expressly exempt the organizers and all persons or institutions involved in the organization, including, but not limited to, the committees and collaborators of the organization, authorized representatives, contractors, assistants, including volunteers to the maximum extent permitted by law, from any liability for non-serious negligence in relation to any accident of which the athlete himself is a victim and from any liability, both civil and criminal, for damage to persons and / or things caused by him. In particular, any liability for baggage carried by the organization is excluded. The organization also rejects any responsibility towards spectators or third parties for damages of any kind.

38. REGULATION PRIORITY

This regulation has absolute validity on any other incorrect, incomplete or different information that may be found on the sites or social media linked in any way to this event. The Italian language version makes a statement.
